Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer is a vital role in providing Servotest systems that are safe, compliant and meet the needs of our customers around the world. In this role the Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and maintain all aspects of the electrical control systems, interfacing with the electronics, mechanical, software and systems engineers. The Electrical Engineer will be involved in customer projects from the outset and provide input to the sales process as required in order to build a complete understanding of the requirements. They will also be responsible for providing suitable design packages for assembly, testing programs and provide support to installation and service engineers as required.

The role is mainly office based.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical products in line with customer requirements and ensure they comply with the relevant/latest regulations (EU / UK Machinery Directive, including ISO 13849, ISO 60204)

    • Electrical control boxes for hydraulic solenoids and safety circuits
    • Electrical circuits for hydraulic power units, motor controls and cooling
    • System electrics, including cable management
    • Additional electrical aspects of system
    • Create risk assessments and safe systems of work thereof

  • Produce design specifications, technical and assembly drawings, using computer-assisted engineering and design software to create technical plans.
  • Create and release electrical BOM to production system
  • Continuously improve the efficiency of electrical systems, machinery, components and products.
  • Provide support to project engineers in developing / maintain electrical systems.
  • Factory and customer site electrical installation support/Fault Finding, as required 
  • Apply electrical knowledge to design testing methods for different systems.
  • Assure product quality by conducting thorough and reliable tests.
  • Research/test manufacturing methods and materials as required.
  • Collect, analyse, interpret and summarise data into written product reports.
  • Estimate project timescales, as well as material, construction and labour costs.
  • Attend educational/technical training and workshops to maintain professional knowledge.
  • Attend meetings and give presentations to managers/clients.
