2- & 3-post ride simulators for motorcycle testing

2-post motorcycle ride simulator2- & 3-post motorcycle road simulator systems are designed to reproduce the vehicle responses experienced under normal driving conditions. These systems are typically used to test motorcycle body, frame and suspensions components to establish their performance characteristics and durability.

2-post rigs are generally suitable for testing the basic capability of mopeds and motorcycles designed for general road use. For more advanced vehicles, including performance and motor-sports platforms a 3-post rig which provides both vertical and horizontal input to the front wheel may be more appropriate.

With 3-post simulators it is not uncommon to utilise spindle-coupling for the front wheel, due to the difficulty of inputting multi-axis loads through the tyre-patch. While this does require more advanced control, since it then becomes necessary to model the tyre behaviour, this is something that can be accommodated by the Servotest Pulsar control platform through our unique 'Sockets' capability.

All Servotest ride simulation systems are able to take advantage of the powerful features offered by the Servotest Pulsar multi-channel digital servo-control system.

These include options for running either block-cycle loading or time-history road-load data by utilising the power of the EzFlow test sequencing software and ICS control/analysis capability.

Please note that, as for any high-force dynamic test rig of this type, a suitable seismic foundation will also be required to ensure that the vibration and forces generated by the rig are not transmitted into the test facility or to adjacent equipment. While provision of this foundation typically remains a customer-facility responsibility early consultation with Servotest is recommended to provide general guidance with respect to the mass of this foundation.
